Finding in the Fog
Bridge in Fort Myers Florida covered in sea fog and rippling sea water.
What I have discovered is that I love shooting in the fog and mist. During my family vacation in Florida, I was able to capture a number of striking scenes as we coasted through the dense sea fog that covered the gulf. These scenes had dystopic undertones that reminded me of some of my favorite media.
These scenes reminded me very much of cyberpunk scenes, such as that you would see in Blade Runner 2049. The fog tightly controlled what made it into frame, and added a strong sense of mystery and suspense as to what you would see next.

After this vacation, we returned to the freezing Minnesota weather, it was blistering cold at -15 degrees windchill when we landed. Over the next few weeks, though, the weather reversed course as we continued and unconventionally warm winter. During one of these reversals, it allowed for an amazingly dense foggy day. Inspired by my previous successes, I captured the following images through rural southern Minnesota.

Some of these photos pushed more into the industrial and isolationist feel which iām super happy with. The grain silos added the perfect texture, color, and feel to the images that capture the visual genre I was going for. If you are interested in having prints of these, reach out in email and I can arrange something!
